Shafer joins BGC as marketing specialist

FLORENCE – Boys & Girls Clubs of the Pee Dee Area announces the expansion of its resource development team with Macie-Lynn Shafer as communications manager.

“Growing our resource development will help us keep up with the needs of the kids we currently serve and continue to expand our reach throughout the Pee Dee,” says Executive Director Neal Zimmerman.

Shafer, a Hartsville native, brings years of experience in marketing, public outreach, stewardship, and grant writing with a variety of clients across South Carolina in addition to the Marlin Foundation and the City of Darlington. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history from Coker University and speaks fluent Mandarin.

“I’m so excited to be back in the area and to have the opportunity to contribute to the Boys & Girls Club. I can’t wait to get started and make a positive impact with the team!” she says.

Outside of work, Shafer is a proud wife and mother to a 2-year-old son.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Pee Dee Area has grown over the last 60 years from one club in Florence to six sites including Timmonsville, Pamplico, Lake City, Hemingway, and Hartsville. Reaching out to each of those communities is important to continuing to serve more than 3,000 youth at The Positive Place for Kids.
