Against The Odds - A Story Of Success, In Spite Of
This March hear from Joette Dukes as she shares her story. From growing up in one of the poorest communities in the State and nation to becoming Executive Director of a multi-million dollar organization, Joette's story is about a woman who has overcome many obstacles and succeeded against many odds. Her message remains the same to all who will hear her: you can do it too!
Joette Dukes is Executive Director of Pee Dee Regional Council of Governments (COG). She has 30+ years’ experience, serving in various capacities in her organization. From 2011 until 2023, she served as Workforce Development Director. During her tenure in that role, the Pee Dee Area received more than $52 million in funding for workforce development, provided millions of workforce development services, and served thousands of individuals seeking individualized educational support and career advancement.
Joette is a graduate of the University of South Carolina’s School of Business and holds a Doctor of Theology Degree from Christian Outreach Bible College. She is a Certified Government Finance Officer (CGFO), Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF), and Society for Human Resources Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).
Joette serves on the boards of several non-profit, community, and/or faith-based organizations. She is married to Elder Stevie Dukes, Pastor of Lighthouse Way of the Cross Church and is involved in their ministry in many capacities. She is also actively involved with the church’s international fellowship - the Way of the Cross Church of Christ, International - where she holds leadership roles in the Christian Education Department and Women’s Ministry.
Joette and her husband have three sons (Terrence, Stevie, and Christian) and reside in Florence, South Carolina.
